Botox injections for the Forehead, Glabella, and Crow's Feet - A Guide for Nurse Injectors

Botox injections are a popular cosmetic procedure that can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, glabella/ between the eyebrows, and around the eyes aka crow's feet. Botox works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles, leading to a smoother and more youthful appearance. The muscles can not activate as much, so the skin over the muscle can not create the wrinkle as well and as deep compared to no injection.

Here's what you need to know about Botox injections for these specific areas of the face.

Forehead: The forehead is one of the first areas of the face to show signs of aging. Over time, repeated muscle contractions from raising eyebrows, furrowing the brow, and other facial expressions can cause deep  horizontal lines to form on the forehead. Botox injections can help to relax the muscles in this area and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines.

To activate these lines in your patient, ask them to open their eyes as wide as possible.

Glabella: The glabella  is the area between the eyebrows, which is often referred to as the "11s." This area is prone to wrinkles due to the repeated movement of the eyebrows and the furrowing of the brow. Botox injections in the glabella can help to smooth out the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, leading to a more refreshed and youthful appearance.

To see these lines in your patient, ask them to look as worried and grumpy as possible.

Crow's Feet: Crow's feet, also known as laugh lines or smile lines, are wrinkles that form around the eyes as a result of smiling, laughing, and other facial expressions. Over time, these lines can become more pronounced and can make you look older than you feel. Botox injections in the crow's feet area can help to relax the muscles and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, leading to a more refreshed and youthful appearance.

You can see these by asking your patient to squint as hard as possible

It's important to note that Botox injections are not a permanent solution, and the effects will typically last 3-6 months before they begin to wear off. However, with regular treatments, the effects can become longer-lasting as the muscles are trained to remain relaxed.

Here at Injector Residency, we will teach you the placement of neurotoxin injections, the appropriate amount in units, the correct depth and location of injections, how to follow up with patients, and more. You will be able to try your new skills on a live human patient, under the guidance of a nurse injector and a plastic surgeon.

In conclusion, Botox injections can be a safe and effective solution for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the forehead, glabella, and around the eyes.
